The visitors were always likely to be on a hiding to nothing after the prolonged wait to play the match, which was postponed on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Danny Smy eased Leiston's nerves with an 8th minute goal but the hosts had to wait until the last minute of the first half before Joe Jefford made it 2-0.

Any hopes of a comeback by the Scholars were quashed when Leon Ottley-Gooch hit an 8-minute hat-trick around the hour-mark, and Jefford added the sixth in the 77th minute.

But Leiston were not able to score a seventh goal which would have been their 100th in the league.

So Enfield Town, pipped for the title by a single point, will host Grays Athletic in their play-off semi-final on Thursday.
