During his two years with the Stutes he made an enormous impact on the club putting in place high levels of professionalism, developing the club`s talented young players, playing a leading role in progressing our partnerships with Anglia Ruskin University and Cambridge University Press FC as well as leading the team on the pitch and making forty-four appearances in a Histon shirt.
Chairman Russell Hands stated: “Whilst all at the club are disappointed to see David go, we are pleased that he has been given the opportunity to progress his coaching career at a higher level and are grateful for the significant contribution he made to Histon FC during two difficult years for the club.
“David will always be welcome back at Histon FC and we all wish him well for the future in what promises to be a very successful coaching career.”
The Board has moved quickly to appoint a successor and are delighted to announce that Brian Page has stepped up from his role as assistant-manager to become first-team manager.
Page will also continue in his position as Scholarship Lead Co-ordinator and his appointment will maintain the continuity of professionalism, coaching, player development and club ethos that has been established over the last two years, allowing him to continue to progress the project that he has played such an important part in so far.
Page will be taking the players when they return for pre-season training on Monday and will be appointing his support staff in the next few days.
Hands added: “We are all disappointed to lose David of course. He has done a terrific job under what were all too often very difficult circumstances. His success in developing our young players is clear for everyone to see and their progress last year is proof of that.
“He fully deserves the chance to move back into the Championship and I'm certain that he has a successful career ahead of him. He brought his own professional standards to the club and has set the bar high but we remain committed to continuing our progress and Brian was the unanimous choice of the Board to take over and keep us on course so we are delighted that he has accepted.”
