....them at the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division club until May 2014.

Both men still had a year to run on their existing deals but the club’s board wanted to tie them to longer contracts after another successful season.

The Generals finished fourth in the Southern Premier in the campaign just finished, missing out in the end-of-season play-offs against AFC Totton.

And a delighted Leese says he and Meakes are keen to build on that and guide Chesham into the Conference set-up for the first time with the second promotion of their careers at The Meadow. He said: "The reasons we joined the club some five years ago are still relevant, namely a great fan base, good facilities and a board that supports us.

“The continuity means we can have an infrastructure in the club around the other teams which support the first team, and it gives an opportunity for young players in the community to come and learn the game, wherever they may end up playing.

“We still enjoy the club and feel we have given the supporters an exciting brand of football since we arrived. With top six finishes every season they know they get their money's worth as we are always competitive.”

The new contracts include clauses that encourage the develop of youngsters throughout the club and Leese added: "We aim to build on last season with some new additions to the first team squad, a new reserve team structure, and the youth team tasked with producing more young players for the club.

“It's a good time to be involved with the club with new ownership, and I am pleased to have the opportunity to try and manage the club to more success.”

Chairman Brian McCarthy added: "We were very unlucky to miss out on promotion last season, reaching the play-offs twelve months after just missing out on them the season before, but every year we have been making progress.

“As a club we realise that much of that progress is based on the stability that comes with continuity, and whilst there have been, and continue to be, a number of changes off the pitch, it is important that we continue to focus on our preparations on the pitch for next season - which promises to be another exciting season for the club.”
