Luchford Hands Abel a Second Chance
Damian Abel

.....and has now revealed the re-signing of forward Damian Abel.

Abel joined the Oystermen in November 2011 after spells with Folkestone Invicta, Ramsgate and Faversham Town.

Luchford said: “I am delighted to announce that I have now concluded the re-signing of Damian Abel. Damian left under a bit of a cloud last season, but apologised to all at the club immediately afterwards.

“Damian is a quality player and one I have managed for over four years now. Last season didn’t go very well for him. He didn’t play where he wanted to at Faversham and there was a lot of chopping and changing there, but then moved to us and him and Stuart Vahid were flying for a few games before we picked up all the injuries. It was a tough time and in the end it was just one thing after another for him.

“I said we would speak in the summer and we have and I am now pleased to say he is back on board. Everyone makes mistakes, and hopefully he will learn by that one. He feels he has a point to prove now and is chomping at the bit to get back involved. With Damian, Ian Pulman and Stuart, I now believe we have one of the most potent strike forces in the league.

“It will provide competition for places, but it gives us plenty of options and really takes the pressure off of all of them, as if one isn’t scoring the other one will be. They are all going to be involved in pretty much all the games and I for one am very excited about seeing them all playing for the club.”
