Luton Hold On

....Bet Premier Promotion Play-Off Final at Wembley on May 20th.

A season`s best attendance of 9,087 inside the Racecourse, including a healthy number who had travelled up from Bedfordshire, saw the visitors – leading 2-0 from last Thursday`s first leg – take a vital 25th minute lead from the penalty spot after Alex Lawless was fouled by Mark Creighton. George Pilkington kept his cool from 12 yards.

The tie was almost put to bed after 32 minutes but Stuart Fleetwood was denied by keeper Joslain Mayebi following Andre Gray`s pass.

Wrexham`s best chance came 7 minutes later when a Glen Little shot from 20 yards was tipped over by Hatters` keeper Mark Tyler.

The Dragons really went for it in the second period though and were rewarded after 63 minutes when Adrian Cieslewicz pulled one back with the header.

It was 2-3 with 13 minutes remaining when Little's cross was headed onto a post by Andy Morrell, and the player boss followed up from close range to net.

It was all Wrexham until the end with Luton fans having to endure a nerve-wrenching 7 minutes of added time before they were finally able to celebrate a second successive play-off final.
