.....started his search for a new midfielder following Lewis Webb’s surprise defection to Blue Square Bet North outfit Corby Town.
The much sought-after Webb was unveiled as one of four new faces for Lynn, due to be his second spell at the club, less than a fortnight ago.
But in a dramatic U-turn, the 22-year-old has had a change of heart after being offered a contract and more money by the Steelmen.
Disappointed Linnets boss Setchell said: “I’m shocked and disappointed that Lewis has left us for Corby.
“He rang and told me of his decision. He wants to play at a higher level of football and Corby have offered him more money.”
Webb apologised to Lynn fans, saying: “I’m sorry for the way it has happened and understand that some fans will hate me for what I’ve done.
“I’ve been offered a contract and more money at Corby and as a footballer you want to test yourself at the highest level possible.
“I also have a family to support and think about and I think anyone in my position would have done exactly the same.”
Webb’s sudden departure completes a busy week of ins-and-outs at The Walks.
Jamie Forshaw and Steve Spriggs both put pen-to-paper, while Danny Beaumont also announced that he was also staying with Robbie Harris moving in the opposite direction.
