The midfielder informed manager Peter Osborne of his decision after the Floodlit Cup match at Fairford Town on Tuesday night and said an emotional farewell to his team-mates and off-the-field team after the game.
MacNamara has played for a number of local clubs including Witney Town and Oxford City and was a member of the City squad that reached the final of the FA Vase, but probably he will be most satisfied with playing for Marlow when they knocked Football League side Oxford United out of the FA Cup.
Osborne paid his tribute to MacNamara: "Darren is a quality footballer who has played at a very high level in non-League football and with great success.
“I have known him for a very long time and he has oozed class wherever he has played. We shall miss his contribution both on and off the field but respect his decision to call time on his playing days. We wish him and his family all the very best for the future."
