John Maggs

New Anvils boss John Maggs has confirmed the defender, along with fellow centre back Ben Swetman, is expected to join Sussex County League side Peacehaven & Telscombe for the 2012-13 season.

The defenders, who joined the Anvils from Peacehaven originally, had been at Crawley Down for two years.

"The majority of last year's side have decided to stay, but I know Ash Jones is going back to Peacehaven," Maggs explained. "His father-in-law is manager there, so I think it's a family thing. I've spoken to him many times, but it's looking like he will at least start the season there.

"Ben Swetman has been struggling with a knee injury and he told me he felt his fitness wasn't up to the Ryman League, so he is also going back to Peacehaven."

However Maggs expects Tom Burton, who joined the Anvils at the same time as Jones and Swetman, to stay on.

Maggs has had a busy summer and has secured the services of former Leatherhead and Horsham midfielder Steve Sargent and former Croydon Athletic and Merstham defender Rhys Coleman.
