The Ryman Football League

....bright start to the season.
The Park Drive side are third in Ryman League Division One North, yet to lose a game and through to the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup.
The club’s raft of new players have settled in quickly and midfielder Berquez is full of praise for boss Terry Spillane and assistant Jody Brown.
However, he has issued a note of caution and believes the team should be judged in a dozen games’ time, rather than now. “Things are definitely going well,” said the former Chelmsford City man, who is the longest-serving player on the Park Drive books. “We’re still unbeaten, have some really good players and everyone is working hard.
“It’s been a steady start but it’s also early days and I’m experienced enough to know not to get carried away.
“Let’s see where we are in another twelve to fifteen games.”
Berquez has played in every game so far and helped Maldon to an impressive 2-0 victory at Soham Town Rangers last Saturday, in the FA Cup.
The draw for the next round sees Spillane’s men now face a trip to league rivals Brentwood Town.
Berquez suffered a bruised ankle last weekend but only came off as a precaution and will be fit for Saturday’s FA Trophy Preliminary Round trip to Ryman Division One South outfit Walton & Hersham.
