Toolstation Northern Counties East League Division One club Retford United have announced that they have parted company with manager Mark Wilson.

The Badgers remained rooted to the foot of the table after Tuesday night’s 8-0 loss at free-scoring Yorkshire Amateur with four points from their opening ten games.

The club released a statement saying: “Retford United are saddened to announce the departure of first-team manager Mark Wilson by mutual consent.

“All parties concerned realised recent results have been below expectations set by the club and a change was required.

“The club are extremely grateful for the hard work Mark has done since taking over the first-team under difficult circumstances last season.

“The club will endeavour to find the correct replacement as quickly as possible and, as always, appreciate the support of our fans during this difficult time”.
