....new season at home to Hendon, with the recruitment of defender Michael Alalie, midfielder Ryan Dolby and right-back Phil Starkey.
Alalie was with Canvey Island last season, having made 36 starts and four substitute appearances for the Gulls during the 2011/12 league and cup campaign. Michael is a versatile defender capable of playing as centre-back or on the right side of the defence.
The former Canvey defender has been given the number 18 shirt.
Dolby ended last season with Welling United in the Blue Square Bet South having made the switch from nearby Bromley. In fact, since 2009, he has switched between the two clubs on a number of occasions; twice in each of the last two seasons!
The 23-year-old midfielder, who arguably plays his best football on the left but can also play up front, is a pacey player who likes to run with the ball at defenders.
With a number of excellent performances in pre-season, Starkey looks set to start the season as Chris Kinnear’s first choice right-back.
The 25-year-old started his career at Crystal Palace and went on to play for Ebbsfleet United, Tonbridge Angels, and Braintree Town before signing for Blue Square Bet South Dover Athletic in June 2011, with who he made thirty-four starts and three substitute appearances in the 2011/12 season.
Margate have also re-signed Laurence Ball and Danny Stubbs for the 2012/13 season.
Ball has re-signed for the new season. He originally signed for the Blues from Dover in the summer of 2010. Since then, he has made ninety-one starts scoring twice over two seasons.
Last term, the accomplished central defender made fifty-three starts playing most of them at right back.
Originally signed in August 2008, Stubbs signed for Maidstone United at start of 2009/10 season before returning to the Blues in October 2009.
In the summer of 2010 he played in the Icelandic league for KA Akureyri before returning to Gate in October. After a brief spell at the end of the season with Maidstone, he re-signed for the 2011/12 season.
His Margate career stats are ninety-one starts, nine substitute appearances and a dozen goals.
