Margate Win Race for Winger
Matt Bodkin welcomed by boss Chris Kinnear

....from Blue Square Bet South side Thurrock. As a youngster, Bodkin was a trainee at Nottingham Forest before switching to Gillingham.

Unable to secure a permanent spot with the Gills, he went on to play for Welling, Grays Athletic, Dover Athletic and Thurrock as well as Dartford and Eastleigh on loan. Ironically, Bodkin was also a target of Welling manager Jamie Day but he has chosen to sign for Gate and becomes the seventh player to put pen-to-paper for manager Chris Kinnear. On his new signing, the Gate boss said: “As soon as Jake and I took over, we said he’s one that we want. “He’s going to make things happen. I’ve seen him play lots and lots of times. “He wants to come and play for us. He’s got a bit of pace and he whips balls in.”
