The 18-year-old will stay at the Arriva Stadium for an initial month having impressed in a number of recent friendlies.
The Mariners begin their league campaign at home to Eastwood Town on Saturday.
"It's a good setup at the club, the lads are a good bunch and all good players and I'm happy to be going out there and getting some games," said Carver.
"I've played a couple of games for them already and it's a real physical challenge. I have to start thinking a bit more, learning to ride tackles and deal with the physical side of things.
"I want to be able to come back fitter and stronger and with games under my belt."
