Higton featured in the first half of the Mariners' 12-3 beating of Boro at the FDC in pre-season and also appeared in other friendlies for his parent club this season.

Boro have also confirmed the signing of former Town player Jamal Shahin, who made five first-team appearances for the Mariners.

Shahin joined Boro from Selby Town after spells at Cleethorpes Town, Brigg Town, Spalding United and Armthorpe Welfare.

Both players shined in their debuts, Higton winning the prestigious Newby Leisure of the match award and Shahin starting his Boro career on a high by getting the assist to William Sinclair's winner after some trickery in yesterday's 3-2 victory against Yorkshire Amateur.
