Martyrs Push Dunstable Further Towards The Bottom

Tuesday`s two games in the Evo-Stik League South Premier involving the race for the play-offs and promotion at Kettering Town and at Biggleswade Town, where Slough Town should have been the visitors, both fell victim of the rain during the day.

That left just the match at Penydarren Park between Merthyr Town and second-bottom Dunstable Town as the only one on.

And it saw the Martyrs ease to a 3-1 win to move onto thirty-eight points, leaving the Duns still in trouble, just three points above bottom-markers Gosport Borough.

However, it didn`t look quite as straightforward for the home side as perhaps their faithful thought as they trailed at half-time to a 19th minute Ethan Lamptey effort.

Nine minutes into the second period, Jarrad Wright equalised and then on the hour-mark, Ian Traylor put the hosts in front.

And Traylor made sure there was to be no comeback when he added Merthyr`s third with 7 minutes remaining.
