....Phil Massingham condemned Carlton Town to a 1-0 home defeat by newly-promoted Gresley FC.
The goal came on 35 minutes and was tinged with controversy as the striker looked to have controlled a cross-field pass with his arm. But the referee saw no infringement and there was no doubting the quality of his strike as he fired the ball over keeper Martin Kearney and into the top corner of the net from 25 yards out.
In a game of few clear efforts on goal it was enough to earn the visitors all three points. Gary Hateley had earlier made a superb save from Millers` forward Ian Brown, and in the second half James Jepson saw a free-kick hit the post for Gresley, but although Carlton put the the Moatmen`s goal under sustained pressure for the closing 20 minutes of the game, too many efforts went wide of the target and the reality was Hateley didn't make a save in the second period.
