Braintree signed McNish following his release by Exeter City in July 2012.

McNish, 20, spent one season with the Grecians after leaving Southampton, making seven appearances for the Devon club.

He started his professional career with the Saints where he made his debut as a 17 year-old. Several clubs were chasing his signature after he left St James`s Park before the Oxford-based youngster opted to sign for the Iron.

He has recently been on loan with Basingstoke`s league rivals Eastleigh.
