Merrick Strengthens Wellington

Merrick has already snapped up strikers Leon Taswell and Luke Redrup from Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South & West neighbours Taunton Town, and he is expected to name another six or seven new players shortly.

Taswell, who enjoyed plenty of success playing for Ilfracombe Town, regularly finishing as top scorer, ended last season playing for Taunton.

Redrup, who scored thirty-three goals for Taunton's championship-winning youth team, has also signed for Wellington, who held on to their status in Division One, despite finishing second-from-bottom last season. "They are an excellent pair and it means we won't be short up front, an area in which we struggled last season," said Wellington boss Colin Merrick. "There has been a buzz at pre-season training and the team now as some great players. "It is a really youthful side but some of the players have a lot of experience. "Pre-season training is going well and as always we will be looking to added a few more players to the squad."
