Millers Make It Eight Without A Win

It`s eight games since Aveley last tasted victory, including seven in the Bostik League North, following Monday night`s 1-0 defeat at Parkside to a Barking outfit who are now seventh, level on points with Bury Town, who occupy the final play-off spot.

Despite their current form, the Millers had another decent crowd of 241 at their smart new stadium, and they saw a lively first half in which the visitors` Kiernan Hughes-Mason hit the bar after only 8 minutes.

The hosts did likewise a few minutes later when Alex Teniola’s fine strike was tipped onto the bar by Blues` keeper Emmanuel Olajide.

But the second half was poor from the Millers, who fell behind 10 minutes into the half when a simple ball over the top saw `keeper Rhys Madden race out but the ball ricocheted off Hughes-Mason, who has the simple task of tapping it into the empty goal.

The win took Barking`s run to seven unbeaten in the league.
