Millers Sets Sedge 50 Point Target

......point-mark in the Baris Northern Counties East League Premier Division table.

It will be a tough task for the Clayborners who are currently on twenty-eight points with twelve games to play. They are due to start at Long Eaton United tomorrow, continuing at home to Barton Old Boys on Tuesday.

The remaining fixtures also include four of the top sides Bridlington Town, Scarborough, Winterton Rangers and Staveley Miners Welfare.

Miller, however, is confident his side can rise to the occasion.

“We have a dozen games left in the season and I have told them they can reach or at least get close to fifty points. If we can do that it will be a massive plus and a massive boost to what we are trying to do here.”

He added that in the coming weeks they will have to start thinking about preparing for next season and finishing with a flourish will help that process.

Liversedge moved up to twelfth last Saturday when they held high-flyers Tadcaster Albion to a 1-1 draw.

Miller explained: “We should have won the game we had a great chance to go 2-1 up but it was not to be.

“Of course if someone had asked me beforehand I would have taken 1-1 straight away against them.”

The key to the success was the experienced team Miller put out.

“Riordan and Lawler were different class, Wood was ill so we put Larkin in at full-back and it really settled things.

“Hanney was all over the park and Hopkins gives us all sorts of options.

“Rob Bordman gave us a good spell, while Hallam was a real threat and Dave Bordman and Cartman looked good up front.”

Miller also praised a strong bench which included James Hurtley, Andy Shuttleworth and Danny Cooper.

“We were the better team and on top for long periods of the game and it certainly looked as if the positions in the table had been reversed, but Tadcaster came back at us and snatched an equaliser.

“That’s how I want us to be never giving up on the chance to get something out of a game that is what helps you get to the top and stay there,” declared Miller.
