Murtagh Becomes Latest Bala Recruit
Conal Murtagh

....Welsh Premier rivals Bala Town`s boss Colin Caton.

The 26-year-old midfielder started his career with Ballymena United and Crusaders before being spotted by Hearts. He made his Scottish League debut while on loan at Raith Rovers in January 2005 and, following his release from Tynecastle, spent pre-season with Sligo Rovers and then played in the reserves at Altrincham after arriving in Manchester as a student.

His Welsh Premier career began with a move to Connah's Quay in 2005, but he left at the end of the campaign and signed for Rhyl, where he made twenty-three appearances before a summer move to Wrexham.

Available part-time while he completed a Physiology degree, Murtagh made just three League Two appearances in 2007/8 and spent two months on loan at Droylsden.

He left the Racecourse in January 2009 to sign for The New Saints but, after failing to secure a regular first-team place, was loaned to Aberystwyth in January 2010, returning to Park Hall briefly in April to win a League Cup medal before making a permanent switch to the Black & Greens.

He has now scored ten goals from his 110 domestic league appearances.
