....securing two players on a long-term loan from Blue Square Bet Premier neighbours Cambridge United.
James Brighton is a 19-year-old left-back who was awarded a professional contract for the forthcoming season, and made his first-team debut for United in March 2011.
Luke Allen is also 19 and plays in centre midfield. He joined United as a scholar after being released by Tottenham Hotspur.
Both players will be available to play for City as from the match at Histon this weekend through until early January, with the possibility of the loan period being extended.
Roberts said "I am pleased to add two talented lads to the team. It underlines the fact that Cambridge United feel we are the right club to continue their development and strengthens the relationship between the two clubs".
Meanwhile City's preparations for the new season have suffered a blow with goalkepper Danny Naisibitt leaving to join Braintree Town.
Naisbitt was at the Pro-Edge Stadium to provide cover for the injured Zac Barrett, who suffered a broken wrist early in pre-season.
This means that Roberts will continue to search for cover until Barrett is fit again which is likely to be at some point in the latter part of September.
