.....Morten as the new first-team manager.

Following the departure of Rick Jarvis due to personal reasons so soon after his appointment, the committee acted swiftly to appoint Morten.

With nearly 400 appearances for the Blues, Morten knows the football club inside out and has many people who hold him in high regard both personally and through football.

Morten said: “First of all I would like to wish Rick Jarvis all the best in securing a new position within football. Rick is a lovely man and well respected. Even in this extremely short time since I took over, the work needed to secure a management team has been non-stop so I have extreme sympathy for him – I know his decision to step away was not an easy one.

“That having said I am delighted to be given the opportunity to manage Rustington – for that I cannot thank Frank and the committee enough for offering me this chance.

“I am sure you are all aware that I have no experience in a management capacity at all - but I do know this club inside out. This will be my fourteenth year with Rustington FC, and to lead them out as manager is something I am very proud of.

“In terms of this year, I wanted to return to what is so special about Rustington Football Club - the local presence of players and players who are all friends, who all socialise together and who all get on well away from the club as well as within it.

“Everyone has worked tirelessly to obtain senior status for Rustington, and what better way to reward that hard work than with a senior trophy. Of course this is easier said than done. However, with the team I plan on putting together and the atmosphere I feel we can generate within club again this year, then that dream is not beyond the realms of possibility.

“All be it very early days, my phone has been nonstop, and if everyone that I have spoken to is true to their word, then I feel Rustington FC have a very bright season ahead.

“Following on from that, I would like to offer a warm welcome to Ged Duckworth, who will be looking after the reserve team as well as the youth team. For anyone that knows football will understand that to have a reserve team as well as a youth team is vitally needed if you are to be successful.

“In terms of my management team, again I wanted to surround myself with local individuals that know Rustington FC, have seen the tough times as well as the great times. The fact they are all great friends of mine just adds to the reason I wanted them, and I am delighted they have agreed to be part of it.

“Craig Cox, Darryl Lineham, and Clare Davey will be helping me throughout the season and I am delighted they are on board. I am still looking to add one more person to the management team, I am awaiting a decision on who that will be currently.

“We will be sharing all aspects of the role and no one is more important than another – although that said without these guys I would not be able to take this job on, so they are the important ones.”
