....Stocksbridge Park Steels were finally beaten by fancied Chorley by the odd goal in NINE!
In front of a decent crowd of 322 at Bracken Moor, it was Steels who scored the opening goal of the new campaign with a 14th minute James Brooker effort.
Ciaran Kilheeney equalised 5 minutes later only for Gavin Ellison to restore Steels` lead 5 minutes after that.
Adam Roscoe pulled the Magpies back on level terms after 33 minutes so that the sides went into half-time all-square.
But in what was a brilliant game for the neutrals, Steels moved 4-2 ahead with goals from Grant Darley 3 minutes after the restart and Michael Fish on 69 minutes.
But Chorley, who had been behind four times on the night, responded brilliantly with a Tom Ince brace on 71 and 74 minutes pulling them level and Andy Russell winning it 3 minutes after that.
The only surprise was that the final 13 minutes saw no further goals!
