Campion gained a 4-1 win against Dronfield Town and their highest attendance in the NCEL at the start of the Groundhop Weekend writes Tom Feaheny.
The match on Thursday night saw a bumper crowd of 268 filled into the Sports Bulk Stadium. Their victory saw them raise up to seventh in the Toolstation Northern Counties East Football League Division One.
Goals from Eli Hey, Ben Kendall, Daniel Cunningham and Jason Davies proved to be the difference. Dronfield had taken the lead moments into the second half thanks to a fine Danny Wood strike.
This was only the start of the weekend with more matches taking place. The games taking place today include Garforth Town facing Staveley Miners Welfare in the Premier Division at 11am. Then Harrogate Railway Athletic face a Pickering Town side who must win if they are to stop Cleethorpes Town winning the title and promotion at 2.30pm. And in Division One Pontefract Collieries can go top of the table with a win against Knaresborough Town that starts at 5.30pm.
There are then nine more matches taking place on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The games on the last two days being matches from the Hallmark Security North West Counties league.
