Ian Lavery, chairman of Ebac Northern League First Division club Ashington CFC, had announced that Tom Wade has agreed to join as joint-manager alongside Steve Harmison.

Lavery said: “Tom Wade’s record in non-League football is second to none and he will be a great addition to the club”.

Wade resigned as manager of Blyth Spartans in September 2016.

He was persuaded to take charge of the club he supported four years previous after being assistant boss, and as well as almost leading them back to Step 2, he also took them to the FA Cup Third Round in 2015 where they narrowly lost to Championship club Birmingham City.

Prior to Blyth, Wade was assistant-manager at Harrogate Town and manager of Gateshead and Bedlington Terriers.
