South Shields` amazing season continued on Saturday with yet another trophy as they hammered close neighbours North Shields 5-0 to win the Brooks Mileson Northern League Challenge Cup at Whitley Bay.

South Shields had already put the Ebac Northern League championship trophy and the Durham Challenge Trophy in the Boardroom cabinet and, after earning a hat-trick of cups on Saturday, head off to Wembley on May 21st to try and add the Buildbase FA Vase to their collection!

They opened the scoring after just 5 minutes through Gavin Cogdon, who sent a 25-yarder over North keeper Kyle Hayes.

Former Gateshead striker Jon Shaw made it 2-0 with only 13 minutes gone on the clock with a near post header.

And then on 33 minutes it was almost game over already when Cogdon added his second, outpacing the defence before slotting past Hayes.

Eleven minutes into the second period, Cogdon completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot after Hayes had brought down Carl Finnigan.

Finnigan himself got the fifth and final goal on 81 minutes.
