Lincoln United manager Sam Wilkinson hopes the financial boost of the weekend’s match with Lincoln City can be put to good use.
Over 1,700 supporters filled Ashby Avenue as the Vanarama National League champions ran out comfortable 4-0 winners.
Wilkinson was proud of the city after the game and hopes the lessons learned from the loss can be taken into the club’s Evo-Stik NPL Division 1 South season.
United like most Non-League clubs count every penny and with their neighbours’ help the club can continue to flourish in the community.

“Saturday provided us with a welcome financial boost and we need the money like most clubs do at our level of the game,” said Wilkinson.
“It was fantastic that so many people came out, it was more about the city as a whole than the result of course but it’s a shame we weren’t at the races a bit more in the first half.
“We made some changes and we looked more organised but they’re a great side, as they showed last season.”
Wilkinson will be keeping a close eye on this week’s fixture release as United look to make a challenge for promotion.
