The North West Counties Football League

...second cup final of the season tonight.
They face Redgate Clayton in the final of the Staffordshire Vase at Marston Road, home of Stafford Rangers, and will be looking to banish the memory of last season’s disappointment in the same competition, when they lost on penalties in the final at the same venue to Leek CSOB.
It is almost incredibly Norton's twenty-sixth game in cup competitions this season, if you count last week's abandoned game at Maine Road in the League Challenge Cup semi-final. But, despite the problems that the club now has with a fixtures back log, manager Scott Dundas says that everyone at the club is looking forward to the game.
“I’ve not seen much of Redgate Clayton this season, although we know they have done well in the Staffordshire County Senior League this season, and I know a couple of their players and the management team.
“It should be a good game and there’s a bit of extra incentive for us after we got to the final and lost on penalties to Leek CSOB. It’s yet another game for us in what is obviously a very busy time for us, and the success in cup competitions has given us a headache with a fixture pile up.
“But it’s a cup final to win, and to use the old cliché we are just taking each game as it comes and hopefully it’ll be a good night for everyone at the club.”
