.....fixtures – Dimple Wells where hosts Ossett Albion were hammered 8-0 by a rampant Trafford side.
Kamahl Whight scored a hat-trick, but even he was overshadowed because Michael Oates netted FIVE!
In contrast, Albion`s neighbours Ossett Town held Warrington Town to a goalless draw at Cantilever Park!
Relegated Burscough began with a 3-1 home win over switched Goole AFC, with Niall Cummins bagging a brace and Liam Caddick netting the Linnets other – Dan Cunningham replying in the last minute for the Vikings.
Newly-promoted Ramsbottom United found themselves 3-1 down with 10 minutes left at home to Cammell Laird but managed to salvage a point.
Jamie Henders scored a hat-trick for the visitors in the 4th, 34th and 60th minute, with Lee Gaskell replying on 39 minutes.
As time was running out, Gaskell grabbed his second and then Anthony Johnson equalised with a minute remaining.
Lancaster City and Farsley FC, two sides fancied to do well this season, shared an opening day draw at the Giant Axe, with Adam Priestley giving the Yorkshire side a 14th minute lead that a David Briggs own goal cancelled out less than a minute later.
Kayde Coppin`s last-minute penalty earned Mossley a 1-0 Seel Park win over Bamber Bridge, and Jordan Williams scored both goals in either half as Clitheroe won 2-0 at Garforth Town.
New Mills won 4-1 at Station View against Harrogate Railway, taking a 32nd minute lead through Steven Moore.
Colin Hunter equalised just after half-time, but Michael Bowler, a Dave Fitzpatrick spot-kick and Moore again sealed the Millers` victory.
Steve Yearwood gave Salford City the lead at Moor Lane on the half-hour mark, only for Kristian Dennis to earn visiting Curzon Ashton a point on 67 minutes, and it was a similar story at Prescot Cables where Jon Bathurst put the home side in front after just 4 minutes and Griff Jones salvaged a draw for Radcliffe Borough.
