Vaughan Williams has stepped down as club chairman and has been succeeded by local businessman and long-term club director Alan Benfield.
Announcing the change, club secretary Dave Laughlin said: “It’s fairly common knowledge that there have been some differences of opinion on how the club should be structured and how decision-making should take place.
“Maintaining the successful direction of the club is our absolute priority and this requires complete harmony at all levels of the club, from the boardroom right through to the management team and the players.
“We have fantastic people at all levels within the club and in our new chairman, Alan Benfield, we have an individual who has been involved with the club over many years and is committed to ensuring that the progress we have made over the past twelve months will be maintained.
“Alan is Belper Town ‘through and through’ and will carry out his new responsibilities with his usual business acumen and charm.”
Also joining the board is Greg Ford, another prominent local businessman and keen Nailers supporter, who will have a lead role in developing commercial activities of the club and creating new partnerships with local businesses.
Laughlin added: “Greg is committed to finding new streams of commercial income and creating successful partnerships between the club and local commerce.
“If we are to maintain our progress and make real strides for promotion, we will need to significantly bolster our commercial activities and the Board feels that Greg is the right person to do this.
“He has the flair, drive and experience to develop new commercial initiatives and we have every confidence that he will be a tremendous addition to the Board and the club.”
