....League club Crediton United, was full of praise for his side, despite watching them exit the FA Vase Second Qualifying Round after a 4-3 extra-time defeat at Tavistock last Saturday.
Crediton quickly found themselves 2-0 down as they struggled to cope with an opposition side in the division above, but they replied in style with three goals in the space of just 10 minutes.
Jon Bradford, Matt Trenaman and Ben Shephard got the goals which put Crediton on the verge of an upset until a penalty made it 3-3 and, 20 minutes into extra time, the hosts scored the winner.
"We were 2-0 down after 15 minutes after just giving them two goals, which was a bit of a shame, but we changed our formation around and played some really, nice football and went 3-2 up," said the ex-Yeovil favourite.
"It showed great character from the boys to be 2-0 down away to higher-league opposition and get back in it.
"We had a really awful performance against Appledore where we were just carrying too many players who had bad games.
"I didn't need to tell them how bad they were – they already knew – but what made this performance so pleasing was the fact that the boys bounced back so well."
