.....on Tuesday, in a prestigious pre-season friendly and the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North club`s final competitive game before the season begins in earnest on 18th August.

Halford has drafted in new blood in strikers Gavin Salmon, Sam Hind and Sam Madeley, midfielders Ashley Young, Jay Gorton and Gary Gee, while the highly-rated Chris Rowney looks set to return after a year with Stockport (Woodley) Sports.

Of last season's squad, goalkeeper Martin Pearson, skipper Dave Young, prized young centre back Keil O'Brien, lively wing-back Cavell Coo, wide midfielders Ben Richardson and Mark Haslam, along with the tricky and versatile Kayde Coppin and livewire striker Nathan Taylor have all returned for the new season after finishing last term strongly.

The return of Cavell Coo to the fold is a real bonus to Halford's squad for the coming campaign as until last week he looked likely to join newly-promoted Witton Albion, but to Halford's delight chose Mossley ahead of the Cheshire club.

The only major departures of the summer are two players who have joined club's higher up the non-League Pyramid - big centre forward Tom Denton, formerly with Huddersfield and Wakefield, has joined Blue Square Bet Premier side Alfreton Town, while midfielder Lee Rick has joined Conference North neighbours Droylsden.
