New Bulls` manager Martin Foyle has been busy working behind the scenes over the past fortnight, and has now announced his first arrival.
Porter, a former team-mate of Foyle's at Port Vale, has previous management and assistant-management experience. He enjoyed a successful period in charge of Port Vale's youth set-up, at a time when Foyle was Vale's first-team manager.
As well as working as head of youth at Vale Park, Porter also took on the role of reserves manager, and had a brief two-game stint as caretaker-manager along with Dean Glover in 2008.
When Foyle was appointed as York City manager it was Porter whom he appointed as his number two, helping Foyle guide the Minstermen to two Wembley finals.
On Foyle's departure, Porter took the reins for a short time before leaving Bootham Crescent himself.
Most recently, Porter has been working at new Conference Premier rivals Stockport County as youth coach at Edgeley Park.
