....ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division club Spalding United as assistant-manager.
Ebdon, who has been immortalised in the title of a book on Peterborough legends, has been persuaded to take up the number two position at the Tulips by boss Pat Rayment.
The 41-year-old will also register as a player and Rayment said: “Having Marcus on board is something that excites me massively.
“We’ve had a few games together for the Posh Legends and realised we had a lot in common when getting talking about football.
“We have grand plans for Spalding and his knowledge and experience of the game will be a huge help. He’s a bubbly, enthusiastic character and that will rub off on players.”
Ebdon is now back in the local area after a playing career that also took in a long spell at Chesterfield, Leyton Orient, Alfreton Town, Tamworth and Atherstone Town.
Rayment insists the capture of Ebdon is the first of many exciting developments this summer for an ambitious club determined to challenge for promotion next season.
Goalkeeping coach Richard Kelly and physio Sam Seal are also joining the Spalding management team, while Danny Hussey remains as player-coach. Bob Don-Duncan is to become director of football.
