....their 1-0 win against Eccleshall at the Robin Park Arena.
The achievement is the latest in a fine season for the Robins, who earlier in the campaign also reached the final of the First Division Trophy and the semi-final of the Lancashire Co-Operative Challenge Cup, and they will now play in the Premier Division of the NWCL for the very first time.
Chairman Steve Halliwell: "The lads have been a credit to the club and I am really chuffed for them. These days, you don’t always get players who will play for the badge, but these lads do, and overall the past few months have been a great time for the club.
"We’ve had a cup final, a semi-final, the reserves are at the top of the league and now promotion, and you have to remember that the club is only seven years old. There are clubs who have been around a lot longer than that who haven’t achieved what we have this season.
"I’ve been in the Premier Division before as chairman of Ashton Athletic and I know what’s involved and what it takes to run a club in the Premier Division. Now we’ve got there, I don’t want us to be coming back down again, and the challenge now is to build on what we have achieved".
Manager John Neafcy: "I’m delighted for everyone at the club. We’ve had fabulous support all season from everyone on the committee and around the club, and we have a band of fans who travel home and away with us who are fantastic.
"We’ll enjoy the moment, but we’ve got two games left, which if we win we’ll put pressure on Norton United and Abbey Hey, and we want to go on and win the title now. It’s difficult for Norton, I understand that, but it’s difficult for the league as well to get the fixtures in. They have had a good season but there are victims of their own success.
"Our biggest bonus this season has been consistency of team selection. We have not had as many injuries as we had in previous seasons, and that has allowed to keep almost the same seventeen in the first team squad all the way through. We have had one or two out in the last month, and have struggled a bit, but we’ve got strength in depth in the squad now.
"We’re looking forward to playing in the Premier League, strengthening the squad a bit and taking it forward from there. Hopefully this time next year, we can be a Premier Division side in the top half of the table."
