Quinn Boost for Penzance
Wayne Quinn

...Wayne Quinn has committed himself to the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League club for another season.

The former Newcastle United, Sheffield United, West Ham and England under-21 international was outstanding at the heart of the Penzance defence last season and was rumoured to be attracting interest from a number of clubs.

However, Marks confirmed he had no doubts that the influential Quinn, the Magpies' player of the year last season, would still be with the club when pre-season training begins in four weeks' time.

Marks said: "Wayne and I have taken three weeks off to have a little break from things and recharge the batteries, but only last weekend we met up and we agreed it's about time we got back to business. Both of us can't wait to get stuck into pre-season.

"We've made one or two enquiries with regards to new signings, and while there's nothing definite just yet, we're confident that we can bring in a few new faces to supplement what we've got.

Marks added that all last season's squad had been placed on the South West Peninsula League's retained list and as yet, nobody had asked to be released or indicated they were looking to move elsewhere.

He said: "As far as I'm aware all of last season's squad have committed themselves to the club and, while I know we need to add one or two signings, even if we didn't manage to do so, if we can keep the squad we already have together I believe we will be an even stronger outfit next season, simply because they will be so much better for the experience they gained last season."
