Quinn Strengthens Brighouse Squad

....prepares to name two new faces for tomorrow’s crunch Baris Northern Counties East League Premier Division clash with title-chasing Winterton Rangers at St Giles Road.

Quinn has moved to sign defender Nathan Kamara from Farsley FC and young frontman Craig Heard from struggling Selby Town as he looks to keep his side fresh ahead of a gruelling series of matches between now and the end of the month.

“I am hoping to include both players in the squad for Saturday once the paperwork has gone through and I cannot envisage any problems with that,” said Quinn.

“Both are good additions and will bolster our squad at a crucial time.

“Nathan is a defender while Craig is a good young striker who has scored a few goals for Selby in difficult circumstances.

“He is somebody we have been looking at and I am delighted that he has agreed to join us.”

Heard’s arrival is timely given the news that Luke Gibson is rated highly doubtful for the Winterton game after picking up a hamstring strain in the 2-0 victory over Thackley on Bank Holiday Monday.

“I spoke to Luke earlier in the week and he said it still felt very sore,” added Quinn.

“It is a bit of a blow but there is no point in risking him when we have such an important run of games coming up.

“With a bit of luck he may be available next week but if I played him on Saturday it could do longer-term damage.”

With Gibson the only injury concern, Quinn will be looking for his players to maintain the form which has seen Brighouse secure four consecutive league victories and move back within touching distance of the leading group.

And although they have Bridlington Town and Tadcaster Albion to come after Winterton, Quinn believes it is the visiting teams who will be feeling the strain.

“There is no pressure on us - it is all on the opposition,” said Quinn. “They will come here with high expectations on their shoulders because they were the sides who were expected to be in the mix at the start of the season.

“To a certain extent we have slipped in under the radar and to be honest that is fine by us. Nobody really expected us to be where we are.

“We have gone about our business quietly to the extent where we have found ourselves in a good position behind the leading teams.

“Now it is up to us to keep doing what we have been doing and to make sure we stay there.”
