Jamie Rainford

....bottom eight rivals Vauxhall Motors.

The 24-year-old striker could be out for a couple of weeks with a swollen knee and is set to miss the last two games of his loan spell – although player-boss Jon Newby is making approaches to Halifax to try and further extend that.

In six appearances on loan at the Bay Rainford has become the club’s second top scorer this season with four goals.

Vauxhall Motors are just three points ahead of the Seagulls in the table, having played two games more, and the two fixtures against the Motormen over the festive season (the teams meet again at Llanelian Road on New Year’s Day) come during a run of tough fixtures for Colwyn Bay over the next month.

They include difficult away games at Guiseley AFC, Boston United, Harrogate Town and Brackley Town, plus a home game against top six side Worcester City – so Newby will feel it is imperative his side pick up points against Vauxhall.

The Ellesmere Port club, however, have bolstered their attack by signing former Wrexham striker Obi Anoruo from Barrow AFC.

The 20-year-old Nigerian scored seventeen goals for Vauxhall last season while on loan from Conference Premier side Wrexham.
