Watkinson, who has only just turned 18, was on the bench in last Tuesday night's win over Ellistown.
Radford manager Paul Rawden was delighted to have snapped keeper Watkinson up and believes the young stopper will provide a real test for current number one Jack Harvey to keep his shirt. "Competition for shirts is very important and Rhys fits the bill of mine in trying to attract the best young players in the area to this football club," he said.
Watkinson follows the earlier arrival of Richard Dean, who was young player of the year in 2010 for npower League One side Scunthorpe United.
Dean makes the switch from another league rival in Blackwell Miners Welfare and the club were grateful to their management team of Gary Haywood and Steve Harris for making the move happen smoothly.
