....their Blue Square Bet South relegation fears with a game to spare.
The Swans edged past Weston-super-Mare 2-1 at Wheatsheaf Park in a nervy clash on Saturday – Weston almost snatching a late equaliser with ten-men which would have plunged Steve Cordery's side into a possible winner-takes-all tussle at Havant & Waterlooville this Saturday.
“It's been a tough season and a tough few weeks but we've done the job,” said Risbridger. “The last few results have been decent and now in the dressing room the feeling is one of relief. We always knew we were good enough to get out of it. We were down there because we have conceded too many goals. If you take the away form we have shown and put some home form with that you are in the play-offs.”
Staines have clambered away from trouble thanks to three straight wins at Boreham Wood, Dorchester and at home to Weston – only their second home triumph since September 17.
“It does make a difference playing teams like that who have nothing to play for,” added Risbridger. “If you play a team down there with you there is more of a fight. You can't odds the way the fixtures come out but that's helped us. But it is the results against the top sides which have done us a good turn and it shows that we let ourselves down against the bottom sides. It comes down to how teams have played against us. If teams come out and play against us it shows how good we are at doing that too. The teams that come to us and sit, we have struggled to break them down.”
