Robinson was selected from a shortlist of five applicants by the club's full board over the weekend. He is planning to speak to members of last season's squad "as soon as possible." Robinson said: "I am delighted to have the chance to manage Taunton Town. "I have huge respect for the work that previous manager Paul West did at the club under difficult circumstances and hope to build on the excellent foundations that he has put in place. "Having spoken to the chairman and directors at length, I have been very impressed by the ambitions of the club and the determination that they have to drive the club forward. "I am confident we are all singing off the same hymn sheet in terms of our ambitions for Taunton and I will be working hard to achieve this for the players, supporters and the people who run the club." The appointment of Robinson has been welcomed by the club's chairman and chief executive Kevin Sturmey, who said: "I'm delighted Leigh has accepted the role as first-team manager. "He has had success at our level, has come highly recommended by many people and has a clear outlook on how to manage in the Southern League. "He impressed the board with his plans and has good contacts in the game, as well as being a decision maker who will be ruthless if necessary. "We will be spending as much time as it takes to formulate plans to create a successful structure and fine tune our draft four-year football plan as soon as possible. "Leigh realises we are in the results business and building the club with the right people will increase our chances of success if everyone shares the same common goal."
