The fans’ favourite re-signed for the club this week from fellow Premier Division outfit Norwich United ahead of a trip to Godmanchester Rovers tomorrow - the scene of their promotion party in April 2011.
And Taylor is hoping Rocastle can make an instant impact at Bearscroft Farm, where he scored on the day their promotion was confirmed, as Diss look to register their first league win of the season.
“He scores goals and I like the lad, he is a good footballer,” said Taylor, whose bottom side won ended their run of thirteen winless games by beating Halstead Town 3-1 in the FA Vase last Saturday.
“He will agree with me that he should never have left us, but he wants to come back as he has not learned anything since he has been away.”
Rocastle, who scored nienteen times in twenty-eight games for Diss in 2010/11, left for Wroxham at the end of the campaign, netting ten times in twenty appearances (eleven starts) for the Yachtsmen on their way to promotion to the Ryman League as Premier Division champions.
But a summer move to Norwich United did not work out for the nephew of former Arsenal midfielder David Rocastle, failing to score from seven appearances this term.
Taylor also revealed a seven-day approach has been lodged for an un-named Diss player and he will not stand in their way if they wish to leave the club.
Meanwhile, Tangerines’ skipper Mark Shadrack, who was moved into midfield on Saturday, is relishing the prospect of coming head-to-head with ex-Diss striker James Pipe again when they travel to Thetford Town’s Mundford Road for a spicy Norfolk derby on Tuesday.
Last time the sides met, in the First Division, Diss triumphed 2-0 at Brewers Green Lane in April 2011, with Mark Scott’s side earning promotion last season after coming runners-up to title winners Godmanchester.
“It will be tough, they are a good side who have started well this year,” said Shadrack. “A lot of the lads know each other, I’m sure it will be a good game and it is on a Tuesday as well which adds a bit of an edge to it and I am looking forward to it.”
