Romsey Boss Quitting at Season`s End
Wayne Mew

....(Wessex) Premier Division club’s financial situation as “untenable.” Mew and his management team have performed wonders in their second season in charge, leading the Bypass outfit to two cup quarter-finals and a potential top-eight finish in the table. But with no budget to work with and, Mew says, no other money available for next season, he is unable to carry on. “It’s disappointing,” he admitted. “We said we needed money to start next season and the chairman said there’s none in the pot, so I don’t know what they’ll do about replacing kit, affiliating with the Hampshire FA and so on. “I’ve contributed in the past, but I can’t afford to do it again. I don’t mind if it’s coming from both sides, but it doesn’t seem to be. “Romsey’s a sleeping giant and I thought I could turn it round, but I’ve not been able to on the financial side.”
