....the run-in to this season, starting at Long Eaton United next Tuesday.
With the club in mid-table, manager Billy Miller is assembling a squad that he hopes will be ready to make a challenge next season.
Miller explained: “The financial problems of the world have hit football clubs like everyone else. There is not as much money around.
“The positive for us is that we have had a lot of players come to Liversedge. They see what we are doing and they want to join us.”
One such recruit is Alex Ferguson, an experienced midfielder who has joined from Ossett Albion. He played in Liversedge’s 2-1 win against Lincoln Moorlands Railway.
Miller said: “There is a great competition for places. Ferguson joins Rob Boardman and Alex Hallam on the right side of midfield which is healthy for the squad.
“In recent matches Carl Horsman has returned from injury and it is no coincidence that Jerry White has had a couple of great games.
“The next step for us is to persuade them to join us for next season.”
Miller watched four potential new recruits in a friendly match on Thursday night.
Liversedge have no match tomorrow as they played the fixture at Staveley Miners Welfare last Thursday, going down 2-0.
The Chesterfield side are in the last eight of the FA Vase tomorrow.
Miller said he took the blame for the players being ‘a bit leggy’ against Lincoln, two days later.
“I agreed to play the game at Staveley on Thursday but it was the right thing to do for them and the league. I thought 2-0 flattered them but we needed to take our chances.”
