The winger, like the rest of the squad, is out of contract in the summer. But he hopes that, after an injury-hit campaign, manager Jason Lee will want to retain his services for the 2012/13 campaign.

“I love it here, I’ve said it so many times,” Semple said.

“It’s a great location for me, the fans have taken to me well and we’ve had success here, which is important.

“I don’t think there’s any doubt about where I’d like to be.”

Semple was brought to York Street in March 2010, after meeting then joint-manager Paul Hurst on a coaching course.

The former Peterborough United player went on to become an integral part of the Pilgrims’ squad which won promotion from the Northern Premier League Premier Division via the play-offs that year.

And he also made forty-five appearances last season as Boston finished third in the Conference North.

So after a hit-and-miss campaign, Semple is keen to help the Pilgrims become a dominant force again - if asked to stay on.

He added: “I believe we can be successful here again, 100 per cent.

“Some players go, some come in, things evolve at football clubs.

“But I believe we’ve got a good nucleus here and that can take us forward.

“We just need to learn important lessons and not make mistakes in key parts of the games.

“That’s been our biggest problem this season.”

Funnily enough, Semple’s love affair almost began a season earlier when he arrived at the club on trial.

But despite linking up with the club in pre-season, Tommy Taylor, the manager at the time, chose not to give him a run out.

Instead, Semple turned out for ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier side Deeping Rangers that season before finally joining the Pilgrims.
