Gary Colborne has joined Merthyr Town from new Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South & West rivals Mangotsfield United.

The left-sided defender becomes the Toolstation Western League champions` second signing of the summer break, joining Nathan Davies.

The Martyrs` boss Gary Shephard is pleased to announce the signing of the former Newport County player and captain of Mangotsfield last season.

Mangotsfield signed Colborne in July 2010 from Newport where he progressed through the club`s Academy to become a member of the first-team squad.

A former Wales Schools under-18 captain, Colborne was voted joint managers` player of the year and also supporters` player of the season for 2010/11.
