....Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One West season and ultimately go on to achieve promotion at the first time of asking.
Bassett were demoted from the Premier Division after the Football Association deemed that improvements to their ground needed to retain top flight status were not completed ahead of a set deadline.
It was understandably a bitter pill to swallow for all concerned at Bassett, but Turner is keen to put the past behind him and focus on the club's coming campaign - starting with a local derby at Malmesbury Victoria on August 13th.
“I would not be excited whoever we would get for the first game,” he said. “The fact it is Malmsebury we are facing doesn't mean anything to us because we have had a long hard summer and we just want to get on with it.
“I feel for the players, they can hold their heads high and they are good enough players (for the Premier Division) but they have stuck by me.
“But you have to turn a negative into a positive and hopefully we will have that siege mentality.”
Bassett secured a 2-0 win over Lambourn Sports in their first friendly of the summer and Turner feels that, all things considered, it has so far been one of the best pre-seasons during his time at the club.
“Preparations have gone really well,” he continued. “It is probably one of the best pre-seasons I have had since I have been here.
“We hope the experience of playing in the Premier Division last year will give us an edge, but nobody is going to give us anything.
“There are some really good teams who have missed out by the odd point in recent years.”
