“In my mind there was never any doubt we would stay up and I’ve always had faith in these players,” Sinton said after Phil Trainer’s late goal ensured a 1-0 win over Tamworth.
“I was probably the calmest man in the ground again tonight and I always felt we’d get a clear-cut chance,” Sinton added. “I thought we were terrific in the second-half. We got after them and showed real belief, desire and determination to stay in the Conference.”
Sinton, who admitted to being “exhausted” after a long and gruelling season, also described keeping the club in the Conference as one of his biggest achievements in football.
“As a manager you’re responsible for the players, the town and the supporters. You feel every defeat and every win more keenly and it’s important not to get too high or too low with the ups and the downs. I don’t set targets but for me, in my own mind, this year was always just about staying up and thankfully we’ve done that with two games to spare.”
