Six Tigers Re-Sign for Next Term
Dave Mehew

....agreeing to new deals with the Tigers.

With preparations well underway for next season, Mehew has been busy assembling his squad, although three of those to agree new deals did so before the end of last season!

Goalkeeper Mike Green, defenders Jack Harris, Matt Coupe and Tom Hamblin and strike partners Darren Edwards and Will Morford will all be back in yellow and black next season.

And Mehew has said all the remaining members of the squad will be offered deals in the next week, with no one being released.

Outlining why he’d tied up six deals so early, Mehew said: “With Mike it`s a one-year deal. He’s a great keeper and they are hard to find. You should always have your goalie on a contract. Mike’s really bought into being part of this club, even though he’s been injured he’s been at all the games, helping out with the commentary and everything.

“Tom and Jack I felt could be targeted by other local clubs in the South West so I thought it was right to get the pair of them to renew their two year deals. I really think they are the future of this club. Jack will be going for it this season, he knows what he has to do to get fit and be prepared.

“Darren is a twenty-goals-a-season striker, so there will always be other clubs sniffing around, so I am pleased to have his deal sorted. It was the same with Morf, we sorted his deal out back in January because I knew the likes of Carl Heeley (Worcester) and Kevin Wilkins (Nuneaton) were speaking highly of him. The pair of them enjoy playing together and I want them both to push on again.

“With Coupey the deal was sorted ages ago, he loves being at Gloucester City and I wasn’t worried about him going anywhere else, he’s keen to kick on again next season.”
